Reduce is a computer algebra system that is suitable as a general-purpose system and has been specially developed with physical applications in mind.

Reduce has been released as an open source project since 2008 and is available free of charge from SourceForge under a modified BSD license . Development has been under the direction of Anthony C. Hearn since the 1960s.

Reduce is implemented in its own Lisp dialect (standard LISP). The user language is RLISP, which has an ALGOL -like syntax. Particular emphasis was placed on portability . There are versions for most variants of Unix, Linux, MS Windows and Apple Macintosh.

From version 4.2 the dynamic geometry software (DGS) GeoGebra offers access to MPReduce as an internal computer algebra system via a separate console interface.
