Reflex Nikkor 500mm f8
In 1968 Nikon brought out a reflective lens called Nikkor-Reflex 500mm / f8 , which, due to its construction, is lighter than others without the reflection technology. The principle is based on the Maksutov telescope . The lens was produced until 1983.
From 1983 to 2005, the successor as was Nikkor Reflex 500mm / f8 N expelled.
The lens was criticized because of its uneven distribution of brightness over the recording surface, because of the small aperture f8 and because of the longer exposure time, objects in motion could not be reproduced in high quality. The lens was also criticized for its low contrast and poor bokeh.
Due to the mirrors used, the lens creates a "donut effect" for technical reasons.
The lens must be provided with a 39mm filter on the back (light exit). This filter is part of the optical calculation. In addition, an 88mm screw filter can be attached to the front.
