Government Public Relations

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Government public relations work ( regÖA ) is a special form of public relations work or corporate communication in Germany . RegÖA refers to all information measures by official bodies, such as authorities, ministries, but also state-funded institutions.

In contrast to the best possible positive presentation of information and procedures of a company to the public, it is only intended to inform and educate.

As part of their communication activities, governments, authorities and state-funded institutions follow the constitutional obligation to provide official information on their institution, topics and activities. The respective target groups should, for example, be enabled to receive the (basic) information they need to freely form opinions and will.

In its ideal-typical application, it serves to meet public information needs. An official information obligation is derived from the principle of democracy in Article 20 of the Basic Law. State institutions should, for example, provide information about their activities and, under this premise, may also promote understanding, but also appropriate behavior.

Gray area

The individual opinion-forming process, especially in the run-up to elections, is also of particular importance. Official information measures must respect this democratic core area and communicate with particular caution during a pre-election period.
