Reich Committee of the University Groups of the German People's Party

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Reich Committee of the University Groups of the German People's Party was a national liberal student association of the Weimar Republic and an official university branch of the DVP .

It was founded in 1922 and in 1925 comprised around 20 university groups. In 1929 he was represented at all universities in the German Reich. He advocated the party-political neutrality of the umbrella organization of the German Student Union (DSt) and at the same time for the idea of connection . He saw himself primarily as an educational community in the national liberal spirit, but also as a representation of student interests towards the mother party.

Since party political engagement in the student body at that time was widely regarded as "unacademic", the Reich Committee, like the other party-affiliated student associations, remained numerically weak. In the annual AStA elections, he was only rarely able to win mandates against the much more influential student associations and right-wing nationalist collection movements such as the German University Ring.

Between 1926 and 1932, the Reich Committee published the university papers of the German People's Party .
