Reich Defense Council
The Reich Defense Council was established by an (unpublished) resolution of the Reich government under Chancellor Adolf Hitler on April 4, 1933, “to coordinate politics, economics and propaganda with all future military plans” .
In addition to the Reich Chancellor as chairman, the Reich Defense Council included :
- the Reichswehr Minister and the Chiefs of Army and Navy Command (replaced in 1938 by the Chief of the Wehrmacht High Command )
- the Reich Foreign Minister
- the Reich Minister of the Interior
- the Reich Minister of Finance
- the Reich Minister of Aviation , from 1935 also Chief of the Air Force High Command
- the Reich Minister for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda
- the Reich Minister of Economics .
Shortly before the start of the Second World War , Hitler's decree on August 30, 1939, formed a permanent committee from the Reich Defense Council as the Council of Ministers for Reich Defense , which had the right to issue ordinances with legal force in a simplified procedure.
