Pure Meylaerts

Reinhilde "Reine" Meylaerts (born September 26, 1965 in Bree ) is a Belgian translator . She teaches at the Faculty of Humanities at the KU Leuven (German Catholic University of Leuven ) at the Institute for Translation Studies in the translation department.

Life

Reine Meylaerts studied at the KU Leuven and initially obtained a Master of Arts degree in French and Italian linguistics and literature. In 1998 she received her doctorate with the font L'Aventure flamande de la Revue Belge. Langues, littératures et cultures dans l'entre-deux-guerres . Today she teaches as a professor of comparative literature at the KU Leuven and is also the coordinator of the institutes for translation studies at the campuses in Leuven, Kortrijk, Antwerp and Brussels.

Her research focuses on intercultural relationships in multilingual societies, especially in 20th century Belgium. She also publishes numerous articles and reviews and is regularly present at international conferences. As director of the CETRA (Center for Translation Studies), she organizes the annual summer courses for doctoral students in translation studies at KU Leuven. She is also the editor of the International Journal of Translation Studies (Target) and a member of the editorial boards of Representations, Representations, Representations. Translating across Cultures and Societies and Tusaaji. A Translation Review , an online journal on translation studies, has played a key role in the publication of scientific articles in the field of translatology.
