Reinhard Ring
Reinhard Ring is a German rhythm teacher and teaches as a professor at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media (HMTMH) and at the Central Music Conservatory in Beijing. From 1992 to 2003 he was president of “La Fédération Internationale des Enseignants de Rythmique” (FIER) and editor of the journal Le Rythme Geneva.
Life
After graduating from high school in Darmstadt, Reinhard Ring studied rhythm , pantomime , composition , choral conducting , piano and musicology in Berlin and Frankfurt . From 1973 to 1980 he worked as a teacher at the State College for Social Pedagogy in Berlin and from 1977 became a teacher. 1980 to 1984 he was the first full-time teacher of rhythm at the Remscheid Academy . In between he had study and teaching stays in New York City, Philadelphia and Reykjavík (visiting professor). In 1984, Ring was appointed professor of rhythm at the Hanover Music Academy (HMTMH). His research areas include movement and music in different cultures, historical dance and rhythm theory. In addition, he is active in the international development of rhythmics, such as in the Institute Rhythmics Hellerau and the Institut Jaques-Dalcroze (Geneva). Since 2006 he has been teaching regularly as a visiting professor at the Central Music Conservatory in Beijing.
International courses and lectures
Reinhard Ring has taught in 19 countries so far. These include European countries such as Germany, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, England and Iceland, American countries such as the USA and Argentina, and Asian countries such as Japan, China and Taiwan. Ring has close ties to China. He has been supporting music education in China since 2006.

Ring has published numerous papers and is also an editor.
