Reisemobil International is a German-language special-interest magazine for mobile travel that has been published by DoldeMedien in Stuttgart since 1989. It provides monthly information about new vehicle models, contains test and driving reports for motorhomes, accessory tests and travel reports.
history
Reisemobil International was founded as the first RV magazine to appear in four-color printing in 1989 by the Stuttgart publisher Gerhard Dolde and his head of advertising, Hansjörg Schwab. The magazine Camping, Cars & Caravans for caravan enthusiasts was founded by the same publisher in 1994. In 2009 the Forum Media Group from Merching near Augsburg took over the two magazines. Every year, the two magazines conduct a joint reader survey on the best vehicle and accessory models in the caravan and mobile home sector and award the manufacturer the König Kunde Award. In 2014, the bimonthly magazine Camper Vans was added, a magazine especially for camper vans and panel vans. In 1996, Reisemobil International published the first Bordatlas parking space guide as a special edition, which lists more than 6,000 overnight spaces in Germany and Europe and is also available as a mobile web app. In addition, the special issue Reisemobil-Kaufberater with type tests for beginners and model overviews is published annually.
Content
In 1989, the Profitest was developed at the start of the Reisemobil International magazine. The professionals are six experts (carpenters, coachbuilders, electricians, safety experts, plumbers for water and gas) who use their specialist knowledge to test a current motorhome. Since 2008, in addition to road testing, the test vehicles have also been sent to the test track, where comfort measurements (driving noise and driving comfort) are carried out on various road surfaces, as well as safety-relevant driving maneuvers when fully loaded. The industry has partly adopted these test procedures for their own test drives. In the "Endurance Test" test format, the editors collect relevant data over at least six months and thus receive information on the durability of the vehicle. The accessories section provides tips for equipping and retrofitting mobile homes. One topic is the optimization of the on-board power supply. In the travel section of the magazine, tour suggestions and tips for mobile holidays are offered nationally and internationally. The editorial team also carries out regional parking space checks in every issue. The establishment of new parking spaces near tourist destinations in particular is an infrastructural issue in Germany, as the growing popularity of motorhome holidays means that parking spaces are becoming increasingly scarce.
