Reliance Power

Reliance Power is an Indian company that wants to operate power plants.

Reliance Power is 50 percent owned by the utility Reliance Energy . It belongs to the Reliance - Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group of the Indian entrepreneur Anil Ambani .

Reliance Energy listed its energy subsidiary Reliance Power on the Indian Stock Exchange on February 11, 2008. With 2.1 billion euros for ten percent of the company's shares, it was the largest IPO in India to date. The shares were oversubscribed 73 times. Nevertheless, they fell by almost 20 percent on the first day of trading because the electricity company has no ongoing business, but only has major investment plans. Reliance Power intends to use the proceeds from the IPO to finance the construction of 13 power plants with an output of 28,200 megawatts and costs of $ 28.5 billion by 2016.
