The company is based in the free trade zone of the port city of Tangier .

history

The plant opened on February 9, 2012. Around one billion euros had been invested in the construction of the plant.

The IFMIA ( Institut de Formation aux Métiers de l'industrie Automobile ), which is financed by the Moroccan government and plays a key role in the training of employees, was opened a year before production started . The CO₂ emissions should be 98 percent lower than at a comparable plant.

The Dacia models Lodgy, Dokker and Sandero are produced (since September 2013).

Around 90 to 95% of the vehicles are exported (mainly to the EU). Due to the EU duty-free status, the vehicles cannot be exported to the countries of the Agadir Agreement .
