Repression or repressive (from the Latin reprimere "to push back") stands for:

  • Oppression , deliberate arbitrariness, violence and abuse of power
  • Repression and Sensitization , in psychology the avoidance of stimuli associated with threats
  • Repressor , in genetics, preventing a gene from being transcribed by a protein
