Retro-cataloging

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The retrospective cataloging ( "retrospective cataloging") is an operation in libraries .

Older media ( old stock ) that are listed in older, no longer in use catalogs (such as card catalogs ) but not yet in the newer library catalogs (mostly OPACs ) are entered in these (old stock recording).

In contrast to retro-conversion , the catalogs of older catalog types are not transferred, but each media unit is re- cataloged for the current catalog by means of an autopsy .
