Lifeboat man
The lifeboat man is the skipper ( helmsman ) of a survival craft or rescue boat , which is put outboard in the event of a sea emergency . This can be in an emergency to rescue other people from distress or in the survival vehicle in the event of an accident , stranding or sinking. He is familiar with all the commands and operation as well as deploying and bringing the vehicle on board, even in rough seas. In the event of a distress at sea, he divides the food and water, knows his way around the equipment, signals and sea anchors , can operate the engine and beach the survival vehicle through the surf. He has to ensure to the greatest possible extent that the survival vehicle is discovered and its position is established.
