List of breeds of chicken

Rhodeländer are a breed of chicken originally from the USA ( Rhode Island and Massachusetts ), which was bred as a farm chicken breed for laying performance and was widespread. The original breeds are Cochin , Malay and other chicken breeds. Rhodelanders were included in the breeding of laying hybrids because of their good laying performance.

Utility properties

The Rhodeländer breed is a medium-weight chicken with a good laying performance of around 180 to 200 eggs per year. The breed is fast growing. The meat quality is good. The breed is considered robust and has no special requirements for keeping.

behavior

Rhode lands are strong and active animals. The brood instinct of the mother hen is weak. Breeding by a mother hen of this breed is accordingly difficult. Rhodian countries have a calm character and do not like to fly, although they are able to. The animals get pretty trusting.

Appearance

The body is brick-shaped with a horizontal posture and the animals have a rose comb or an ordinary simple comb. The best-known color variant is a uniform, deep dark red with black markings on the wings and tail. However, there is also a black and a white variant.

Dwarf form

There is a dwarf form of this breed , the dwarf Rhodeländer .
