Gunner (ger .: gunner - Fri .: shooter ) is a general term for the operator of a gun . This gun can be mounted or installed, e.g. B. in tanks . The gunner aligns (hence the name) the gun on command to target the target. Horizontal movements of the pipe are called pivoting, vertical movements are called straightening. Modern guns are operated using fittings similar to steering wheels. The loader is responsible for loading the gun . The gunner also represents the tank commander . The operator of an anti-tank guided weapon is called a guided gunner if he has to operate the cannon and PALR (e.g. in the AFV BMP-1 ) as a gunner .
