Direction change operation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term direction change operation refers to the reciprocal driving of lanes in both directions of traffic. With the help of variable message signs , the usability of the lane can be shown to the traffic. The direction change operation is only useful for routes on which very different traffic flows are handled at fixed times of the day. For example, a one-way street in the morning experiences heavy traffic in the direction of the city center, whereas this traffic reverses in the afternoon. In order to improve the flow of traffic in this case, the traffic direction can be more heavily loadedtemporarily a lane of the less heavily used direction of travel can be left. The direction change operation can only be set up if the less polluted driving direction is not excessively disadvantaged and clearly different vehicle flows occur over the course of the day.
