Rila leaves

The Glagolitic sheets of Rila (Bulgarian Рилски глаголически листове , Rilski glagolitscheski listowe ) are eight damaged parchment sheets and three fragments in Old Church Slavonic in Glagolitic script from the 11th century. They contain parts of the Paraenesis of Ephraim the Syrian and prayers for the Orthodox liturgy in the Great Lent before Easter. The writing and design of the leaves are very similar to the Codex Assemanianus and the Euchologion Sinaiticum .

Two leaves were found in 1845 in the Rila Monastery in Bulgaria by the Russian Slavist Victor Grigorovich . They contain parts of the 78th section of Paraenesis and are 27.5 × 21.3 cm in size. You are now in the Russian Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg with the signature 24.4.15.

Three more sheets were found in 1880 by Konstantin Iretschek in the Rila monastery. Jordan Ivanov found the other fragments in 1936 . All these sheets are now in the archive of the Rila Monastery, signature Cod. 3/6.

The Grigorowitsch sheet may also belong to the manuscript.
