Jordan Ivanov , actually Jordan Ivanov Nikolov , also Jordan Ivanov ( Bulgarian Йордан Иванов , * 6. January 1872 in Kyustendil , † 29. July 1947 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian literary historian , archaeologist and ethnographer ( folklorist ).

Jordan Ivanov first studied Slavic Studies and History at the University of Sofia from 1889 to 1892 and then from 1892 to 1894 Latin and palaeography at the University of Lausanne . He then taught French and literature at a school in Sliven and from 1899 French at the University of Sofia. From 1906 to 1908 he was secretary of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce in Thessaloniki . In 1909 he received his doctorate in history and philology from the University of Sofia. He then taught Slavic literary history at the University of Sofia. In 1909 he became a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences . In 1911 he completed his habilitation there and from 1927 was professor of Slavic and medieval literature, folklore, Christian palaeography and French. In 1942 he retired.

In his academic work, he dealt in particular with the old Bulgarian literature. He collected and published many old Bulgarian writings. In 1907 he brought the Bitola Triodion from Macedonia to Bulgaria. He published in 1908 a factory to Bulgarian antiquities in Macedonia and in 1925 a work at the Bogomilenbüchern and legends. In 1936 he found fragments of the rila leaves .
