Ringelstein station, former signal box

Ringelstein belongs to the village of Harth in the city of Büren .

The place arose in the Almetal during the Second World War as a workers' and wax settlement, when an ammunition plant was built on the PaderbornBrilon railway line ( Almetal-Bahn ) in the Ringelsteiner Forest, which extends from the Almetal up to the Brilon plateau .

The former signal box was converted into a holiday home. The factory (called "Muna") was one of the largest in what was then Reich territory. The remains of the former storage and production facilities that were blown up by the Allies after the Second World War can still be found in the forest today. Today the munitions dismantling company of the ordnance clearance service of the Arnsberg district government uses the area.

The youth forest home of the Hochstift regional forest office and the home station of the Waldbahn Almetal e. V., which offers excursion transport with rail buses on the disused railway line .

In the Harth-Ringelstein castle ruins, the remains of the castle built by the noblemen of Büren around 1390 can be viewed. During the Thirty Years' War this castle was the scene of numerous witch trials . Between December 1630 and April 1631, 55 people were sentenced as alleged witches and executed.
