Riq ( Arabic رق, DMG riq ) also riqq , is an Arabic single-headed frame drum .

The diameter of the drum is around 24 cm and the height around 6 cm. On the circular frame clamps are attached as in a clamp ring , z. B. in the arrangement 5 × 2 × 2 clamps.

In the past, the riq was covered with fish skin, today goatskin is usually used for it.

The riq is used in Arabic folk music, classical Arabic music and to accompany oriental dance . One of the most famous riq players today is Bishara Naddaf, who was born in Nazareth in 1960.
