Riya (TV series)

Riya is a television and web series by the Indian director Jim Sanjay. It is a humorous take on a modern Indian family. A father (Vikas) and daughter (Riya) were separated for many years because of a broken marriage. Now Riya suddenly reappears in Vika's life and everything changes.

Summary

Riya is a story about the father Vikas and his daughter Riya. She was separated from her father when she was a toddler. Her parents had a messy divorce and they both split up. The court granted her mother, Beena, full custody of Riya. Vikas had a broken heart. Time goes by and Vikas becomes very successful in his corporate career and now he is running an MNC. Life has become smooth for him. He has a prosperous career and a beautiful fiancée named Radha.

Little did Vikas know that his life would be interrupted by the arrival of his daughter, whom he hadn't seen in 15 years. Vikas discovers that Riya ran away from home without informing her mother. She tells her father about her plans to stay with him until graduation. That doesn't go well with his fiancée Radha. It has become apparent that Riha is nothing but trouble for Radha and she makes sure that both daughter and father know her feelings well.

Radha wants Raiya to stay in a hostel and Vikas wants her to stay with him. Riya asks her father to help her find a good college in town. Riya wants to go to college, but she, the protective father, wants her to go to college. Eventually he learns that his daughter is able to make a good decision about her education. Meanwhile, his relationship with his fiancé is under stress. Vikas tries to find the balance between his demanding fiancé and his challenging teenage daughter.

The theme song Daddy and Daughter, written by Brian D. Kelley, is performed by female Hindustani singer MM Manasi (her first published English chant).

The series is produced by Wreckers Media and SIMPL by Chennai India. It deals with topics such as respect, trust, empowerment of women and education.
