Robert Grahn (* 1964 in Potsdam ) is a German aerial photographer .

Life

Robert Grahn grew up in the GDR . As a teenager he completed glider training at the Society for Sport and Technology at the Kreuzbruch airfield north of Berlin. Later on he did a professional training as an aircraft mechanic with the GDR airline Interflug in Berlin-Schönefeld. After his military service in the National People's Army of the GDR, he worked as a volunteer with the Märkische Volksstimme and as a photo reporter with the military image service MBD of the GDR military publisher . In 1988 the first own aerial photo productions took place - until the fall as a photo reporter for the daily newspaper Neues Deutschland .

After the fall of the Wall he undertook his own aerial photo flights nationwide under the name Luftbild & Pressefoto for daily newspapers and publishers. After working as a photo reporter for Berlin daily newspapers, Grahn has been the operator of two commercial press photo agencies since 1997: the agency euroluftbild.de , which specializes in aerial photo formats, and the contemporary history agency ddrbildarchiv.de , which also markets images from the visual arts.

Since 2013 there have been increasing reports of systematic warnings from euroluftbild.de/Robert Grahn, represented by law firms, claiming the improper use of copyrighted images to which euroluftbild.de claims to have the exclusive rights. The lawyers asked the recipients of the warnings to submit a declaration of cease and desist with criminal penalties and to pay substantial damages and legal fees of up to several thousand euros.
