Robocopy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robocopy is a Windows - Command line tool from Microsoft for copying and synchronizing of directories . With its 72 command line parameters , it is a versatile, customizable tool that also allows incremental backup of directories. It is commonly used as a tool by system administrators in batch files .

In contrast to simple copying in Windows Explorer , Robocopy does not abort in the event of errors and can document the success of the copying process in a log file . It is far more flexible than the commands COPYor supplied with older Windows / DOS versions XCOPY.

While it used to have to be installed as part of the Windows Resource Kit , it is included as standard in Windows versions from Vista and Windows Server 2008 onwards .

In addition to the command line tool from Microsoft, there are also free and free programs with similar names to Robocopy, for example programs that provide graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for Robocopy in order to circumvent problems with command line parameters.
