Roboti

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Roboti (The Robots) were a Yugoslav band from Zagreb that was very successful around 1965.

The band was founded in 1963 and initially played mainly in beat clubs in Austria. They achieved great popularity in Yugoslavia with the title "Mramor ,ommen i željezo", a Serbo-Croatian cover version of " Marmor, Stein und Eisen breaks ", which was written and sung by Drafi Deutscher (a new cover version of this took in the 1980s Bijelo dugme on). In 1966 the singer and guitarist Ivica Percl (1945-2007) left the band and successfully started a solo career. He was replaced by a saxophonist and keyboard player and the style of the band changed to rhythm and blues . 1966-68 she toured Yugoslavia and Italy , but the success waned. The band broke up in 1969, and in the early 1970s there was only a brief reunion.
