Rodi P2P

The Rodi network is a P2P - file sharing network . The Rodi client was released as free software under the GNU General Public License . It supports all platforms on which Java is available.

There are three ways to surf the Rodi network anonymously. All of these options can be used individually or together.

  • Hiding behind a router
  • Spoof an IP address
  • Trust Network (HUB)

The Rodi network supports the search for content. Since Rodi is a decentralized network, the evaluation of search terms and the search results can be different for each search query.

The weighting of search terms can also be influenced. The Rodi network can be viewed as a loose or as a network of completely independent search engines.

Rodi is based on the UDP protocol.

Rodi can also be operated on computers behind a NAT router, a firewall or a packet filter. There is no need to open a separate port for Rodi.

criticism

It should be noted critically that hiding behind a router is nothing more than using a proxy, which is usually central. However, there are now decentralized proxy networks in which each node can transform itself into a proxy. Trust networks are trivial and are a simple FTP hub with a password, so they are not suitable for P2P as they exclude everyone who does not belong to the closed group of users. Spoofing an IP address is hardly a good way to remain anonymous. In addition, there is no encryption in the transfers, e.g. B. exclude the network administrator of the provider.
