Rodolfo Camacho

Rodolfo Camacho (born October 17, 1975 in Susacón , Colombia , † August 7, 2016 in San Cristóbal , Venezuela ) was a Venezuelan road cyclist .

Career

Rodolfo Camacho won the twelfth stage of the Vuelta al Táchira in 1999 . Two years later he was successful there again on a section. He was also first overall in the Tour de la Guadeloupe . In the 2006 season he won a stage at the Vuelta Internacional al Estado Trujillo. The next year he was successful on the eighth section of the Clásico Ciclístico Banfoandes . In 2008 he was able to win a stage there too. He also won the third stage at the Clásico Virgen de la Consolación de Tachira. In 2014 he ended his active cycling career.

On August 7, 2016, he and his 16-year-old son Jesus Rodolfo Camacho were attacked by two armed robbers in their house in the Villa Sol residential complex and, like his son, later succumbed to gunshot wounds in the hospital. His wife and little daughter managed to hide in one room and survived.
