Rodolphe Schacher

Rodolphe Schacher (* 1973 in Paris ) is a Swiss-French composer and pianist .

The French-Swiss composer and pianist Rodolphe Schacher was born in Paris. He completed his studies in Paris, Geneva and Zurich. His academic career includes five Premier Prix at the Paris Conservatoire as well as first prize from the Bertie Alder Foundation (pedagogy), a concert diploma in piano chamber music (with distinction) and a degree in composition. His teachers included Thierry Escaich, Gerald Bennett and Michael Jarrell.

In 2005 David Zinman, chief conductor of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, awarded him the annual scholarship, which resulted in an invitation to the Aspen Music Festival .

In 2007 composer in residence at the renowned Menuhin Festival Gstaad, his new quartet 'Le Renouveau' was premiered by the star flutist Emmanuel Pahud and other members of the Berlin Philharmonic. In 2008 Rodolphe Schacher composed a musical fairy tale in collaboration with the storyteller Jolanda Steiner and the recorder player Maurice Steger.

In 2008/09 the elemental cycle “Fire, Earth, Water, Air” was created with Linard Bardill, which was performed in four family concerts and the final concert “The Rose of Jericho” in the Tonhalle Zurich.

In 2009–2011 three CDs with orchestral works for children were released on behalf of the Musikkollegium Winterthur, the Tonhalle Orchestra and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra.

Today Rodolphe Schacher is one of the up-and-coming composers of the younger generation. In addition to his symphonic oeuvre, composing chamber music and - with passion - film music enjoys special attention.

Works by Rodolphe Schacher have been performed in many countries such as France, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, England, USA, Argentina, Brazil and China.
