Roger Andermatt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Roger Andermatt (* 1969 ), also known as the «Lucerne death nurse», is a Swiss serial killer . With 22 people killed between 1995 and 2001, he is the serial killer with the highest number of victims in Swiss criminal history.

Life

Andermatt worked as a carer in various retirement and nursing homes in central Switzerland , including the Eichhof retirement home in Lucerne . His victims were people in need of care. The murders were noticed by an accumulation of deaths in certain homes. The victims in question were exhumed and autopsied in 2001. Andermatt was also known locally as a dance teacher and DJ "RO-Gee". On January 28, 2005, Andermatt was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Lucerne Criminal Court for murder in 22 cases, completed attempted murder in three cases and unfinished attempted murder with resignation in two cases. The court's sentence was higher than the prosecution's request and, in particular, did not follow the line of defense (killing out of pity).

On February 15, 2006, the judgment was confirmed in the second instance. The Lucerne High Court sentenced Andermatt only in seven cases of murder. The remaining 15 cases were classified as premeditated homicides. There are also three completed and two unfinished attempts at killing. Due to the large number of victims, the court decided on the maximum sentence for life despite the reduction in the sentence. Andermatt has confessed about the killings, but claims to have acted out of pity. He also complained that he and the care team had been overwhelmed.
