Bulk density class

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bricks are divided into bulk density classes (RDK) according to the respective standard ( DIN 105 , DIN 106 , DIN 4165 , DIN 18151 , DIN 18152 ) .

The specification of the bulk density classes is made without a unit. The RDK is a class that is restricted above and below.

Bulk density
class
(RDK)
Mean value of
the stone density
[kg / dm³]
1.0 from 0.91 to 1.00
1.2 from 1.01 to 1.20
1.4 from 1.21 to 1.40
1.6 from 1.41 to 1.60
1.8 from 1.61 to 1.80
2.0 from 1.81 to 2.00
2.2 from 2.01 to 2.20
2.4 from 2.21 to 2.40

Dead weight

The gross density class determines the dead weight of the building material. According to DIN 1055-1, the weight to be applied to determine the dead weight results from: - gross density class - masonry mortar - wall thickness and wall height When determining the dead weight, a safety margin is calculated. From bulk density class 1.6 onwards, the density [in kN / m³] is RDK x 10.

Soundproofing

The gross density class is important for determining the mass per unit area (wall weight) in accordance with DIN 4109, supplement 1. The gross density of the wall depends on the RDK, masonry mortar , wall thickness and any plaster layers.
