The Rombach Tunnel is an approx. 870 meter long, two-lane tunnel through the Aalen districts of Unterrombach and Hofherrnweiler- Spagenfeld. It was built for the western bypass of the B 29 in Aalen and opened to traffic in 2001. It is named after the Rombach , which runs parallel to the tunnel and was diverted for the construction of the tunnel.

In September 2008, 14 additional surveillance cameras were installed in the tunnel and in the escape staircases, bringing the total to 30. In addition, the marking of the escape routes was improved and two barriers were installed at each of the two tunnel entrances.
