Ronmiel de Canarias (span., Dt. "Rum with honey") is a liqueur from the Canary Islands , which is made from rum made from sugar cane or molasses and honey . The typical honey rum is dark amber in color , tastes soft and sweet and has an alcohol content of 20 to 30 % by volume . It isdrunkas an aperitif or digestive .

In 2005 the Canarian Ministry of Agriculture registered a geographical designation ( DO ) for honey rum under the name " Ronmiel de Canarias ".

The region around Arucas is the most important growing area for sugar cane, which has been grown in Gran Canaria since 1489. The Arucas rum made from it is known far beyond the island.
