Rondador

Rondador

The rondador is an Ecuadorian panpipe that is considered the country's national musical instrument .

It differs from the other pan flutes of the Andes ("Antaras") like the Siku in that there is always a shorter auxiliary tube between the larger main tubes, so that a saw-like profile is created. Since the auxiliary tubes, each one third lower, are played, a peculiar smoky sound is created by two tubes at the same time. Most instruments consist of 20 to 32 tubes.
