Rosemary West (born November 29, 1953 , born: Rosemary Pauline Letts ) is a British serial killer and was sentenced to life imprisonment for complicity in ten murders.

In 1968 she moved to Frederick West as a nanny and married him in 1972. She had at least eight children during the course of the marriage. Her husband's stepdaughter, Charmaine, who was brought into the marriage, presumably killed her alone. Her own child, Heather, was also murdered. The seven other children survived. West was involved in eight other murders of girls lured into the Wests home in Gloucester . Furthermore, the sexual coercion of a woman could be proven.

In 1995, Frederick West hanged himself . Rosemary West came on trial that same year for ten murders. In her defense, she blamed all of the blame on her dead husband. The public prosecutor's office, on the other hand, suspected that she was the main culprit and her husband merely as assistants in the dismemberment of the corpses. The shocking details of the killings, which were accompanied by severe sexual torture, sparked rumors that numerous other people were killed by the West couple and buried elsewhere from the murders that have now become known.
