history

Originally the castle was a courtyard and was bought by Jakob Stockinger on October 17, 1533. He expanded the farm into a noble farm and also released it from servitude. Jacob's children sold the farm at Rosenberg on October 23, 1604 to Ciniak Schröckhinger zu Neblau, who expanded it further. On September 26, 1606, Schröckhinger zu Neblau received permission from Archduke Ferdinand to name the property Neidenberg . A small keep was also built around that time . In 1620 the seat came to Anna Lukretia Kuglmann. In 1634 she handed over the property, which has already been named Rosenhof, to Georg Caspar Auer.

The Auer family owned the estate until 1687 when it came to Count Ferdinand Leopold Breuner. Several other owners followed him before the property was publicly auctioned in 1721 and bought by Josef Gottlieb Freiherrn von Hingenau. In 1728 Georg Jakob von Deyerlsberg acquired the property. The von Deyerlsbergs handed it over to the Jesuits residing in Graz on July 1, 1745 , who accommodated guests there. After the Order of Graz was dissolved in 1773, the Rosenhof became state property. In 1780 it was used for military purposes, which turned out to be unsuitable for barracks. On September 2, 1781, the castle was auctioned off to the public and acquired by the then governor, Count Ferdinand Attems. He had the seat entered on the country table as Rosenhayn . The castle was owned by the Attems family until 1880 . Several owners followed before the Rosenhof came into the possession of the City of Graz on December 28, 1928.
