Horsehair pillows

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For horsehair pillows , horse tail hair is predominantly used (a distinction is made between horse mane and tail hair). The long and wiry hair from the horse's tail is twisted into very fine braids, fixed with steam and then plucked by hand. The pillow is elastic, springy and adaptable. Due to the strong crimping, it remains well air-permeable and any heat build-up is avoided. It is suitable for people who sweat a lot or who prefer a flexible but supportive headrest.

The horse tail hair is offered in different cover variants. The preferred variant of reference but with a woven cotton fabric ( lawn , percale , Maco be -Satin), which is quilted with sheep's wool and provided with a zipper. The new sheep's wool quilted under the cover fabric prevents individual horse tail hair tips from being pierced. For those who prefer a washable version, there is the cover variant with a quilted cotton or cotton / linen or cotton / kapok blend.

Depending on the capacity, it can be flat or voluminous. The filling should be removed from time to time and loosened up. A vigorous sunbathing - i.e. laying out in the sun - is also advisable.
