For Christmas, two siblings get the little dog Rowdy from their parents, which they immediately take into their hearts. On a family outing, however, he leans a little too far out of the moving car and falls out unnoticed. Rowdy then ends up in an animal shelter, where he meets the Zwick flea. Together they escape from the shelter and try to find rowdy's family again. The two experience a wide variety of adventures that they master together.

Rowdy & Zwick received an AWGIE Award from the Australian Writers' Guild in 2012. In 2013 Christopher Elves received the APRA / Screen Music Award in the category "Best Music For Childrens Television" for the music in the series. Furthermore, received Rowdy & Zwick nominations for the AACTA Awards 2012 in the category "Best Children's Television Series" and the Asian Television Awards 2012 in the category "Best 2D Animation".
