The training facility existed from 1945 to 1997. In 1945, parts of an older training facility in Ramslade House were merged to form the Royal Air Force College. The subordination changed several times, first from the Reserve Command to the Home Command and 1968 to the Training Command, in 1973 finally to the RAF Support Command, whereby the area of ​​responsibility did not change. In 1994 the command was reassigned one last time, this time to the Personnel and Training Command, before it was dissolved on January 1, 1997 and its training content was transferred to the Joint Services Command and Staff College .

In the years that followed, the building was used as the location for the police station for the television series Inspector Barnaby (Midsomer Murders).
