Royal Designers for Industry

Royal Designers for Industry is an award from the Royal Society of Arts that has been awarded since 1936. There is a maximum of 200 members who, if they are British citizens, can add the RDI to their names. Foreign members are Honorary RDIs (HonRDI), with a maximum of half as many as RDIs.

All areas of design are awarded, from architects, landscape planners, stage designers, fashion designers, furniture designers, graphic artists to industrial designers.

There is a Master of the Faculty that is elected every two years. New diplomas are awarded at the annual dinner.

Examples of members are Norman Foster , Richard Rogers , Vivienne Westwood , James Dyson , Terence Conran , Mary Quant , Tim Berners-Lee .
