Royal Geographical Society Island is an island at the transition from Queen Maud Gulf to Victoria Strait . It is the main island of the Royal Geographical Society Islands and belongs to the Canadian territory of Nunavut .
The island has an area of 458.1 km² and reaches a maximum height of 53 m.
There are three designated headlands on the island: Cape Davidson in the southwest, Cape Adams in the southeast, and Wharton Point in the northwest. Cape Davidson was named after the geographer George Davidson (1825-1911). The island and the archipelago owe their name to Roald Amundsen .
