Soot brush

A soot brush is a device for securing finger and palm marks ( dactyloscopy ), which is used by the police identification service .

The finest soot powder (or special powder mixtures) is applied to the object to be examined with a brush. Soot sticks to the greasy components of the fingerprint and makes it visible.

The soot brush is used in different designs, e.g. B. as a marabou brush , zephyr brush (brush with fine glass fibers), squirrel hair brush , atomizer brush .

Carbon black is used as an adhesive .

In addition to soot, there are numerous other adhesives that are also used for securing evidence .
