Rudder stock

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The rudder shaft connects the rudder blade with the tiller in a tiller control . The steering movement of the tiller is transmitted to the rudder blade via the rudder shaft. Nowadays, the rudder stock is mostly made of stainless steel and is mounted in the rudder trunk with ball bearings or, for heavy loads, with spherical roller bearings.
