Rudder bars are floating dock structures whose freeboard height was adjusted to the deeper rowing, canoeing boats. In general, rowing docks are made as floating docks with a freeboard height of around 20 cm. This structural change has made it easier for rowers to leave their boats.

Regulation

Due to the special regulations for water sports facilities (MSA (26)), certain traffic loads are to be set for different areas. For example, 2.5 kN / m² is prescribed in public areas, 1.5 kN / m² in private and 1.0 kN / m² for water sports enthusiasts. To ensure this, the floats have a freeboard height of 25 cm, 20 cm and 10 cm. It should be noted that the construction of a floating dock can result in an actual freeboard height of 20–50 cm, depending on the area. The rowing bridge is the corresponding variant for water sports with around 20 cm.
