history

1954 was the first time an American national team was put together in rugby league to complete a tour of Australia and New Zealand . The team, however, consisted almost exclusively of American football players and was therefore not very competitive. It was then until 1987 before the United States reappeared in the international rugby league. The US-Americans, then known as Tomahawks , had their most spectacular performance in 2004, when they faced record world champions Australia in Philadelphia and led 24-6 at halftime, but lost 24:36 in the end. In 2013 , the team qualified for a world championship for the first time and immediately survived the preliminary round, but went down in the quarter-finals with 0:64 against the Australians without a chance.
