The Order of Glory ( Russian Орден Славы ) was founded on November 8, 1943 by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union . The medal has three classes and was only awarded to soldiers up to the rank of non-commissioned officer. The lending practice was that a soldier was awarded first the lowest ranked third class, then the second and finally the highest, the first class. Bearers of all classes were "Knights of the Order of Glory", which entitles them to the same privileges as a " Hero of the Soviet Union ". The ribbon of this medal is the Saint George ribbon .

During the Great Patriotic War , the First Class Order was awarded 2,656 times. The order II. Class received 46,000 and III. Class 868,000 military personnel.
