Runabout (wagon)
The runabout ( English ) is a light, functional type of car for one or two people that was once widespread in the USA . The light one-horse chariot could be harnessed by one person and pulled over long distances by a single horse . The runabout was not driven by a paid driver, but by the owner himself. A typical runabout is a light buggy . It has four large wheels and a comfortably padded double bench seat and suspension. At the rear there is a small loading area for shopping or some luggage. A runabout could be simple or elegant, but it had no heavy superstructures such as fenders or roof, but a hood.
