Council of Religions
The Council of Religions is the name given to local institutions of interreligious dialogue , in which the most diverse religious communities come together for dialogue and to agree on joint actions.
For example, the Council of Religions in Frankfurt am Main describes itself as follows:
"The Council of Religions Frankfurt promotes the dialogue between the religious communities and urban society - and takes a position from a religious point of view on social and political issues in the city of Frankfurt."
Such institutions with the name "Council of Religions" exist in:
- Bonn
- Frankfurt am Main
- to water
- Hanover
- Hildesheim
- kassel
- Cologne
- Leverkusen
- Munich
- Nuremberg
- Odenwald
- Stuttgart, the Round Table of Religions in Stuttgart initiated by Mayor Wolfgang Schuster and its successor institution
- Ulm
There are associations that call themselves the "Round Table of Religions" in:
- Fulda
- Göttingen (only "of the religions of Abraham")
- Hanau
- Iserlohn
- Marburg
- Osnabrück
- Wins
- Wuppertal
The Frankfurt Council of Religions lists other interreligious initiatives, some of them regional, some supraregional and republic-wide spheres of activity. One of the best known is the “Round Table of Religions in Germany” initiated by Franz Brendle at the federal level, which since 1998 has also published statements on current social issues.
