Omnidirectional antenna
Omnidirectional antennas , also known as omnidirectional antennas, are antennas that are used to radiate high-frequency electromagnetic oscillations. The term “omnidirectional” denotes the antenna's uniform radiation pattern in all directions (in the horizontal plane).
Typical omnidirectional radiators are rod antennas for handheld radios , vertical dipoles , the coaxial dipole and the ground plane antenna.
The omnidirectional characteristic is particularly advantageous for mobile radio transmitters or - according to the reciprocity - also receivers, such as. B. car radio , taxi radio or handheld radios.
