Ruth Sowe

Ruth Adjua Sowe is a Gambian diplomat.

Life

Ruth Sowe worked in the Gambian embassy in Brussels under Ebou Momar Taal from at least the mid-1970s .

Around 1980 she worked in the Foreign Ministry. To 1981, she was Managing High Commissioner ( Acting High Commissioner ) in Nigeria for Sam Sarr during his absence. This made her the first female Gambian head of a diplomatic mission.

Around 1983 and around 1987 she was counselor at the Gambian embassy in Brussels.

In 1984, she was Executive Secretary ( Acting Permanent Secretary ) in the Foreign Ministry.

From September 30, 1991 she was accredited as Gambian ambassador to the European Union. At least Italy, Germany and the Netherlands also fell within their remit.

In 2011 she appeared as a witness in a court case.
