Slip mark

The slip mark ( English slip (page) mark or creep mark ) is a mark on the tire and rim of aircraft, with which the defined seat of the tire is determined relative to the rim. If the tire rotates ("slips") with respect to the rim, there is a risk of the valve being torn off with tubular tires. The check for matching slip marks is therefore part of the external visual inspection as part of the preflight checks . As a rule, only small aircraft today have tubular tires. One possible cause of slipping can be insufficient air pressure in the tire.
