Ruyuekou

Ruyuekou ( Chinese  茹越口 , Pinyin RU yuè kǒu ) is a village in the district Ying of the prefecture-level city Shuozhou in the province of Shanxi .

Ruyuekou located near the strategically important pass Pingxingguan where in September 1937 at the Japanese Chinese-Second War , the Battle of Pingxingguan took place in the Chinese won a minor victory against the unstoppable advancing Japanese.

During the fighting that followed, the Chinese 6th Army Group under Liang Jiantang was defeated by the Japanese in the vicinity of Ruyuekou , and Liang Jiantang lost his life along with 1,400 soldiers and officers.

Near Ruyuekou, a section of the Great Wall of China lies at the intersection of the two wall areas Yanmenguan and Pingxingguan.
